substitution, suffered the penalty for my sins, seeing that all Jesus did was done

for me personally and is set to my account. I have been perfectly united with Him

in His death and I am also perfectly united with Him in His Resurrection.

My old spiritually dead self was crucified with Jesus in order to free my body

from slavery to sin’s power. As a born-again child of God, my old nature no

longer has the power to control my actions. Because I died with Jesus, I have been

set completely free!

Now since I died with Chri s t , I also live throu gh Hi m . I know that since Je su s

was ra i sed from the dead, He cannot die again; death no longer has any kind of

power over Him; for by the death that He died , He died to sin (ending His rel a ti o n-

ship to it), but the life that He live s , He lives in an unbre a k a ble bond with God .

In the same w ay, I count myself, through identification with Jesus, as being

dead to sin, and yet I am alive and living in an unbreakable bond with God.

Therefore, I will not allow sin to control my mortal body in any way. I will not

use any part of my body as an instrument of wickedness, nor will I allow the evil

one to overrun any part of me.

Sin is no longer my master in any way, for I have been set free from its power

and have become a partaker of God’s grace. Therefore, sin can no longer separate

me from my Father, and together we continually demonstrate its defeat in my life.

Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of

Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ,that we might be justified by

the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law

shall no flesh be justified. But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we our-

selves also are found sinners, is therefore Christ the minister of sin? God forbid.

For if I build again the things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor.

For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God. I am cru-

cified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the

life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved

me, and gave himself for me. I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if right-

eousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.
